President-elect Prabowo Subianto, set to take office for the 2024-2029 term, has appealed to his supporters and the volunteers from the Prabowo-Gibran alliance to maintain the peace and unity of Indonesia by steering clear of any mass protests at the Constitutional Court.
“Let me be clear,” Prabowo stated, “I earnestly appeal to all Indonesians, especially the 96.2 million who supported the Prabowo-Gibran ticket, to refrain from any form of protest outside the Constitutional Court or any other location. We must safeguard our democratic stability and uphold the unity of our nation.”
Prabowo acknowledged the accusations leveled by opponents but urged his followers to remain composed and peaceful.
“It’s natural to feel disturbed given the current tensions,” he noted, “and while many of you have reacted passionately, I urge everyone to stay vigilant and to approach this situation with a mindset geared towards maintaining harmony and peace. Let’s not give in to provocations that aim to disrupt our societal tranquility.”
Prabowo emphasized that showing restraint and keeping a cool head are crucial for prioritizing the welfare of the Indonesian people and the country’s cohesion.
“I urge everyone to keep calm, be thoughtful, and exercise self-control. Allow the Constitutional Court and its judges to fulfill their responsibilities with integrity, focusing on the welfare of our people and the future of our beloved country,” he concluded.
