Prabowo’s Closing Statement in the Fifth Debate Draws Public Appreciation

Jakarta – The closing statement of presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, in the fifth debate held by the KPU at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday (5/2) evening, attracted public attention.

In his closing statement, Prabowo once again emphasized his commitment to building the country together with his vice presidential candidate, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. He also apologized to the candidate number 01, 03, and the KPU for any mistakes during the debates and the campaign.

Thousands of comments immediately flooded Tiktok and X (formerly Twitter) applications. Most netizens appreciated Prabowo’s statement. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s words even brought tears to many netizens.

One of the profound impressions was conveyed by a netizen with the username @ilkavalentinaa on Tiktok. She uploaded a video of her foreign husband who was moved to tears after hearing Prabowo’s closing statement.

“Having a foreign husband who loves Prabowo so much until he was moved to tears by his closing statement. Stay healthy, Mr. Prabowo,” she wrote in the caption.

The flood of appreciation for Prabowo was also evident in the comment section of the Kompas TV’s TikTok account which uploaded a snippet of Prabowo’s statement. Many netizens believed that Prabowo had a big heart for daring to apologize. They also wished Prabowo good health.

“Mr. Prabowo, I liked your closing statement, I appreciate it, stay healthy, Mr. Prabowo,” wrote the @dismaayundari112 account.

“Mr. Prabowo, apology and thank you are words that are difficult for humans to express,” said the @anothersideofvj account.

“A big-hearted and generous man, suitable for his rank and position through time. InshaAllah, the next president of Indonesia will be Mr. Prabowo,” said the @novienzohanzo account.

Prabowo’s statement also sparked a lot of discussion on X. Several accounts with hundreds of thousands of followers openly expressed their impressions of Prabowo’s closing statement.

“Oh my God, Mr. @prabowo. Thank you for being so gentle in apologizing and embracing everyone for the sake of harmony,” wrote comedian Kiky Saputri through her personal X account, @kikysaputrii.

“Thank you for thanking and not forgetting anyone. Thank you for not discrediting and belittling anyone. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she added.

Another comment came from the @kurawa account, which saw Prabowo’s statement as a humble and open acknowledgment of other candidates’ strengths.

“The best closing in the #debatcapres2024 was by candidate 02 Prabowo-Gibran. A humble pair: apologizing and acknowledging that other candidates are the best sons. And once again stating: I will be the President for all of the people of Indonesia. Fixed 1 round for 02,” wrote @kurawa.

Similar appreciation was also expressed by @PartaiSocmed on X. This account even mentioned that Prabowo-Gibran was focused on collaboration rather than highlighting themselves when closing the debate.

“While others are still enthusiastic, Prabowo’s closing statement was the most fitting for the final debate. Conveying apologies to other candidates and calling for reconciliation and collaboration. ‘If elected, I will be the President for all the people of Indonesia, including those who did not vote for me,'” wrote the @PartaiSocmed account.

The statement quoted by @PartaiSocmed was also agreed upon by several netizens, one of them being the @NyaiiBubu account which reposted Prabowo’s statement while giving a checkmark to the apology and commitment to embrace all parties.

“We will build a strong, fair, and prosperous Indonesia for everyone!! Beautiful,” wrote the @NyaiiBubu account on X. (SENOPATI)
