International Relations Expert Says Prabowo Subianto Makes Indonesia the Most Concrete Helper of Gaza

Published:

Jakarta – Professor Hikmahanto Juwana, an International Relations (IR) expert, praised the concrete actions taken by the Indonesian government through Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto to help address the emergency situation in Gaza, Palestine, which he believes positions Indonesia as the country providing the most concrete assistance to Gaza.

This was reflected in Prabowo’s firm speech at the High-Level Emergency Response Summit for Gaza recently held in Amman, Jordan. Contrary to other countries attending the summit, he noted that Indonesia’s stance was the most tangible and bold.

Hikmahanto stated that Indonesia is not just talking but also taking real action, ready with plans to host 1,000 patients and 1,000 students to be treated and schooled in Indonesia. This move, he believes, could cause concern for the US and Israel.

“So I see that Indonesia’s courage will be noticed by other countries, and it’s not just talk and superficial levels, but concrete action. This is what will also make the United States and Israel worried,” Hikmahanto told reporters in Jakarta on Friday (June 14).

He continued, the action plan is believed to put pressure on Israel and its ally the United States to stop acts of genocide.

“We hope that this concern will be able to stop what Israel is doing in the Gaza region. This is because the United Nations, from the General Assembly to the UN Security Council, seems to be ineffective against the atrocities committed by Israel,” he stated.

Therefore, Hikmahanto hopes that the concrete steps taken by the Indonesian government through Prabowo at the Jordan summit can be followed by other countries.

“I hope what Mr. Prabowo has done will form what we call a humanitarian coalition. What the world needs to stop Israel is humanity. I believe that if we talk about humanity, it will be supported by many parties,” he hoped.
