JAKARTA – The differences between Brimob Pasukan Pelopor and Gegana are discussed in this article. Both are part of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Mobile Brigade Corps.
“Brimob is a unit that consists of Gegana Forces, Pioneer Forces, Training Units, and Intelligence Units,” said Commissioner of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) Poengky Indarti to SINDOnews, Tuesday (April 30, 2024).
The Indonesian National Police Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob Polri) is the main executive of the National Police Headquarters specifically tasked with handling high-intensity and high-level crimes. According to its official website, Brimob Polri is tasked with maintaining domestic security from high-intensity crime threats.
The success of the Brimob Polri Corps in addressing security threats and maintaining public order in Indonesia is inseparable from the support of the nation and state that seek to create a sense of security and comfort in the country.
The Brimob Polri Corps also has Search and Rescue (SAR) capabilities used in humanitarian tasks to assist and evacuate victims of natural disasters in Indonesia.
The involvement of the Brimob Polri forces in combating terrorism in Indonesia increased after the Bali I bombing attack. Brimob was also involved in other police operations, especially in dealing with high-intensity crimes, such as participating in the Tinombala operation with the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI).

Pioneer Forces:
As stated on the official website of the Indonesian National Police Mobile Brigade Corps, the Pioneer Regiment is the main implementing unit under the Brimob Polri Corps. Its task is to develop and enhance the capabilities of personnel and deploy the unit’s strength under the orders of the Brimob Polri Corps Commander, with the task and function of conducting mass and counter-insurgency enforcement functions to achieve domestic security.
